It's more specific than just the date as well, it's actually 12 hours before the Equinox itself, and 12 hours after. It's counter to the Vernal Equinox (maybe counter is the wrong word, temporally opposite?), which is when I usually ask for something. Since I ask for something on the one, I thought it appropriate to sacrifice something on the other.

Re: The story thus far.

moved, cause who knew Disqus had a reply feature?

Re: The story thus far.

Wow... that's pretty surprising that you're happy still, but I'm glad to hear it. I'll do one for you here, to the general amyooosement of anyone watching.

1. Something random... You giggle like a little girl. It's cute and endearing... if you're a little girl. When you're 6'5" and look like a serial rapist, it's kinda creepy.
2. Brass Monkey - Beastie Boys. (Yeah, you like that, dontcha?)
3. Would you like a Whiskey Sour? Sure, I knew you would.
4. Jew!!! I mean, Jesus!
5. "Who is this tall drink of water coming into Danny's basement? Oh shi, he better watch his head or else he's gonna hit... oh. Looks like he's been here before."
6. An albino ape. Yeah, you're not hairy, but you have no neck, and your arms look like they'd drag the ground if you stooped over.
Anyone ever tell you that? Goddamn you are tall and have long arms. They do make for great hugs though :)
7. Did you really think I'd ever sleep with you? Duh.

Re: I have…

Network integration. Applications that not only recognize one another but allow each other to take over certain functions and perform its commands. And yet, most of us, even if pressed, couldn't be forced to give our next-door neighbor's last name. Because we don't know. Because we don't care.

Sometimes I look at the plethora of technological fait accompli out there and wonder, "Why am I not more into this? I don't really 'get' it, but it seems like I should." I'm an engineer, bred from a long line of techies; It's practically in my DNA. There are, of course, the philosophical debates: Does any of this new technology make us happier? Does it make us better human beings? For all the connectedness that the "web" or "net" implies, haven't we instead grown more apart?

I'm not here to answer those questions. I'm not a philosopher. I'm just a techie who... doesn't get it.

What I do get:
-Walking in the woods at twilight when the air is cold and the noctunal animals emerge, wary and yet curious. The stars twinkle in a pale orchid sky as the last embers of the day burn out.
-Lifting a glass of '02 Shiraz/C. Sauv./C. Franc blend, swirling it lazily around, closing my eyes and breathing in the esters, then taking a large sip and letting the wine luxuriate in my mouth.
-Inching up to the line on a drag strip in a car you've built up yourself, checking your gauges, grip the wheel and shift knob, one more inch... two lights yellow, rev to 3500 RPM,
yellow
yellow
GREEN!
And the world rockets past you in a AWD launching blur, everything is automatic, clutch, shift, throttle, release, clutch, shift, throttle, release,
clutch, shift, throttle, release,
clutch, shift, throttle, release,
and brake!

Honestly, I don't understand the gadget mentality, the apps, WoW, Mac vs. PC, any of it. Maybe I haven't given it enough of a fair chance. Maybe I haven't given it enough time. Some argue I don't have the mental capacity (lol!). I just figured I always found something else more personally fulfilling for me to be doing. To each his own, I guess.

But to be honest... I just don't get it.

Re: I have…

And you made your blog mobile friendly.
